USA GRANTS $500 MILLION IN ARMS TO TAIWAN IN CONFLICT WITH CHINA

In order to do so, Biden invoked the same " emergency " authority he has already used 35 times for Ukraine. This aid to Taiwan is the first in a total package of $1 billion that the president can use without congressional approval.

The country continues to be sucked dry while the US population groans under inflation and high prices.

The Taiwan Relations Act, which has governed US-Taiwan relations since 1979, gives Taiwan a legal basis to arm itself but does not oblige the US to defend Taiwan in case of an attack.

Since last year, Taiwan has complained of delays in the delivery of US weapons, including Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, as suppliers switched to deliveries to Ukraine in the fight against Russia's invasion ( see earlier article ).

The delivery of 66 advanced modern F-16Vs from the United States has been delayed due to supply chain problems, Taiwan Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said, adding that the ministry aims to mitigate the damage and "eliminate shortcomings".

Quick reminder : Taiwan is a province of China that has declared its independence, which has been accepted by the international community including the USA but not by China. It still considers Taiwan its own province.

Compare with the province of Donetsk and Luhansk in Donbas Ukraine, which have done exactly the same thing which - with the exception of a few countries - has not been accepted by the international community with the USA leading in the front. They receive no support. In Ukraine, the exact opposite is happening as in Taiwan.

Why is the USA investing so much money in Taiwan as in Ukraine ? Because it is close to the border with China and can be stuffed with weapons and military equipment. That way, the USA is at China's back door there too as it tries and meanwhile executes via Ukraine in Finland towards Russia.
