Last week, the U.S. White House spokesman stated that the Russians had downed one of their unmanned drones over the Black Sea. The Americans rushed to release video footage allegedly taken by the drone. This footage shows 2 Russian fighter jets flying close to the drone, discharging a load of kerosene that caused the drone's electronics to fail and the aircraft to crash.
Although the Americans had not yet fished out the drone of the Black Sea, they were able to show footage that reportedly was filmed in real time by the drone and registered in America before the drone failed.
The international community has condemned the Russians' actions. Taking down an American unmanned drone ? Not done.
Good. Now the real situation.
The American unmanned drone was a spy craft flying close to the Russian border without transponder and shooting illegal images.. The device was not registered. It had taken off from an American aircraft carrier and violated several air spaces. Before entering an airspace, permission to enter must be requested from the competent tower. According to international flight rules this is mandatory. Besides, when an aircraft leaves an airspace it must also formulate a request which must be granted before taking any action.
The Russians had noticed an non registered aircraft on radar. They made a call as required by international rules. Since the drone was unmanned, there was no response. Accordingly, two Russian fighter jets took off to investigate. They discovered it was an American spy drone. They could not ask the device to cease the illegal activity and leave the airspace, as required by international rules, because the drone was unmanned and just kept on flying.
When the pilots noticed that the drone dropped " something " they decided to take action, which is allowed under those same international rules.
Russia did not break any rules. The Americans, on the other hand, all the more so. That the Biden administration sent yet another unmanned drone to the Black Sea is pure provocation and completely illegal.
In the attached video, the unedited images of the drone taken from the Russian fighter jet.
