The Cetina River Spring (Izvor Cetine), also known as the Eye Of The Earth is an incredible karst spring located at the foothills of the Dinara mountain range in Croatia. It got its name because it looks like a blue-green dragon eye from above.
This small body of water is formed by a hole that penetrates depths unknown of the Earth, explored by divers who made it to 115 meters. It's real depth is unknown.
This splendid spring has an extraordinary shape and color and is one of the sources of the longest river in Dalmatia – the Cetina. It runs for about 65 miles before letting out into the Adriatic Sea. Its waters flow at the foot of the Dinara, the highest mountain massif in Croatia.
The source is off the main tourist routes, located in Milasevo, near a small village called Cetina. It can be found via a path that leads straight from an Orthodox church, and further downstream, not far from the source lie the remains of one of the oldest Croatian churches which dates back to the 9th century.
Croatia is definitely worth a visit. The coastline is very beautiful but extremely expensive. For a hotel room you easily pay 250 euros per night with prices going up to 2,750 euros per night, but inland you can lodge at very democratic prices, eat and drink in nice restaurants and enjoy beautiful nature. If you drive through the country make a small detour to the eye of the world.
