THE CLIMATE CRISIS - MORE ARCTIC ICE NOW THAN DURING THE MID-HOLOCENE

On 13.09.2022, the leading scientific magazine NATURE published a study of 12 scientists, with references to, as many as, 79 other studies, which - after in-depth research - concluded that there is more arctic ice in the polar regions now than during the Middle Holocene epoch ( MH ) or 5000-8000 ago. More so, during the stated epoch, summers became warmer than what we have seen er experienced in the past 20-30 years.
During the Middle Holocene, the earth was inhabited by Homo sapiens and Neanderthals. There were not many people walking around this planet. There was no industry and, manual agriculture was still in its infancy. Yet successive ice ages were interspersed with natural climate warming that had nothing to do with CO2 emissions that are the subject of so much ado these days, strangling citizens, businesses, industry and agriculture and subjecting them to high taxes and restrictions.
The climate is not determined by CO2 emissions. In previous eras, the earth was envelopped in a thick haze of high CO2 concentrations caused by natural gases. The planet florated very well. Barren plains turned into immense forests.
Trees convert CO2 into oxygen. That CO2 had no effect whatsoever on the climate is clear from the simple observation that there have nevertheless been ice ages followed by periods of warming up without any hand of mankind.
.
Due to what then? Through natural phenomena over which man and technology have no control, such as, among others, the Gulf Stream. The Canary Islands and the South of England have a microclimate all year round. The favourable temperatures are due to the fact that the Gulf Stream flows right under the coast. In places where the Gulf Stream passes close to the coast, a warmer climate prevails than in places where the Gulf Stream is far away.
Scientific research over the past 50 years has shown that the Gulf Stream is continuously moving and is currently reversing higher up North. This seems to explain why the ice caps in the far North are melting.
Below is a translation of the relevant elements from the aforementioned study.
" Compared to the current climate, the Arctic became warmer in the summer of the Middle Holocene ( MH ) and had less sea ice, along with stronger solar insulation in the northern hemisphere.
" In the modern climate, the East Siberian Arctic Shelf (ESAS, where the water depth in the Laptev Sea, East Siberian Sea and Chukchi Sea is less than 100 m) is an important area with increasing seasonality of sea ice, with almost ice-free conditions in summer and fully covered sea ice in winter.
" According to modern observations, the Arctic remains largely covered by sea ice in June and July, which limits direct absorption of solar insolation due to high albedos. In comparison, our results show that during the MH, a greater amount of warm water flowed into the Arctic Ocean via Russian pan-Arctic rivers than during the modern climate, causing sea ice to retreat faster during the MH. At this point, we argue that solar insolation in early summer at high boreal latitudes amplified the ESAS sea ice decline by increasing the discharge of warmer water via pan-Arctic rivers, along with the direct thermal effect of radiation during the MH.
"Accordingly, the various proxy reconstructions of higher surface summer temperatures also imply higher freshwater temperatures in rivers at high and middle latitudes during the MH," he said.
"Thus, all these IRD records indicate that the sea ice of the ESAS has been continuously evolving since the MH. Moreover, regional sea ice bio-marker values gradually increased from the MH to the LH, indicating relatively more intense sea ice melt in the spring and summer of the MH. More specifically, micro-paleontological data show that Eurasia was ice-free in the summer of the MH. Altogether, these results indicate that regional sea ice decreased significantly during the MH and increased during the LH.
The multitude of available data shows that the ice cover in the Arctic has been quite stable for hundreds of years and, that the situation today is better than it was then. 3000 to 7000 years ago, when the Arctic ice cover was significantly smaller and thinner than today. During that period, summers were warmer. The polar sea was completely ice-free. Moreover, it appears that it also has rained much more, which would have caused warmer fresh water to flow from the rivers to the sea and contribute to the melting of the ice sheets.
Previous scientific studies, including a 2008 study, have calculated that the average temperature in the Arctic in the MH was on average 2 to 6.5 degrees higher than today and, that the area was covered in ice between 5.5 and 9 months per year and ice-free for the rest of the time.
All the scientists who have been researching and proving for many years that there is no global warming are not given a platform. While their studies are published in reputable professional journals, governments and the media do not bring it under any attention. Fear and terror is being sown on the basis of hot air ( which of course is solely an expression, the air is not hot ).
