Kīlauea is an active volcano on the island of Hawaii in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the state of Hawaii. It is one of the six shield volcanoes that make up Hawaii's largest island. Kīlauea is among the most active volcanoes in the world. Since 1952, Kīlauea has erupted dozens of times. From 1983 to 2018, there was almost continuous eruptive activity along the volcano's East Rift Zone.
