FRENCH TOTAL ENERGIES BUYS GAS FROM CHINA IN CHINESE CURRENCY

Chinese national oil company CNOOC and French Total Energies have completed China's first yuan-settled LNG trade through the Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange, according to stock exchange reports.

The 65,000 tonnes of LNG imported by China from the United Arab Emirates ( see earlier article ) changed hands in the trade and is now owned by Total Energies who paid the yuan price to China. Total Energies confirmed to Reuters that the transaction involved LNG imported from the UAE, but did not comment further.
