Barely days after a severe cyclone that caused widespread flooding and extensive damage, New Zealand is hit again by successive earthquakes, the first of which occured this morning with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale. New Zealand has a long history of severe earthquakes. Everyone remembers the devastation in Christchurch in February 2011 when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred, such as recently in south-eastern Turkey.
Between 15 February 2021 and today, there have been 19,755 earthquakes in New Zealand, including 56 major ones during the past 24 hours.
In the past two weeks, there have been many earthquakes around the world with magnitudes above 4, 5 and even 6 on the Richter scale. amongst which in Romania, Taiwan, Hawai, Colombia, the Fidji Islands, Tonga and central Turkey.
Something is bubbling in Mother Earth's belly that may not have been caused by herself.
