In the town of Meyrin, on avenue des Particules 1, is the largest underground European research centre Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire ( CERN for short ), where research on fundamental particles has been carried out since 1954 via a gigantic particle accelerator ( known by the name " Large Hardron Collider "or LHC ) capable of generating unparalleled speeds and covering the entire underground region in terms of size. In 2019, CERN employed 2,660 workers from 70 countries and generated more than 49 petabytes of data. 1 petabyte is equivalent to 1,000 terabytes. This data is not available. For 2020,2021 and 2022, no info is available on CERN either. In contrast, what has become known is that CERN has recently discovered a new particle, which it has named TETRAQUARKS ( part of a Quark which in turn is part of one proton ) and has qualified it as the fundamental building block of the universe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDgJD-MarvU
Today, 5 July 2022, at 4pm CST, CERN reactivated its particle accelerator ( LHC ) - after being shut down for 4 years - for the first time and allowed it to run again at a speed of 13.6 TeV ( tera-electron volts ). 1 TeV is equal to 1 trillion electron volts ( not to be confused with Volt, it is a totally different unit ).
In physics, one electron volt is a unit of measurement for the volume of kinetic energy gained from a single electron circulating at ever-increasing speed in a vacuum environment. We, ordinary earthlings, cannot imagine such speed. 1 TeV is approximately equivalent to 200,000 km per second.
Although CERN had announced a live broadcast of the activation of the LHC and the collisions this particle accelerator would cause, unfortunately, there are no images of it. However, a 1h50 live stream has been published on Youtube in no less than 7 different languages with all sorts of interviews and information essentially about the history of the Large Hardron Collider. Starting at 0:52 minutes, you can see a few images that are said to be collisions at a rate of 13.6 TeV. Judge for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06kFq1QF5-s
There has been a lot of buzz on all social media over the past week about CERN's planned reactivation of the LHC at the announced speed of 13.6 TeV. A whole series of videos were posted on, among others, youtube, in which all protagonists unequivocally proclaimed that CERN would open a gateway to the underworld ( according to one ), a gateway to " dark matter " ( according to another ) and create a black hole on 05.07.2022. Still others claimed the world would go down. These videos have been watched by quite a few people.
We are now 05.07.2022 22h10 CET. Nothing has happened. Not at CERN and not in the world either. Those who have put faith in the fables : let it rest and sleep on 2 ears.
Sleep well 🙂
