On 23 February 2023, Argentina declared the highest alert for bird flu. Indeed, health authorities then nationwide detected at least 8 cases of infected birds in the wild and in poultry and took new measures to prevent the spread to poultry farms.
Since then, Argentina has been destroying all eggs every day and has also destroyed more than 173,000 chickens. Export of poultry is banned.
According to the WHO, the situation became dangerous on 29 March 2023 and has remained unchanged since then.
This is vehemently denied by all poultry farmers.
