Airbus Company is working intensively to develop hydrogen-powered aircraft. Its designers recently proposed three concept models that could be manufactured in a near future. Two models have a standard fuselage design. In contrast, the third has a "flying wing", which increases the aircraft's cargo space and allows fuel to be distributed more efficiently.
Air New Zealand is the first to sign an agreement with Airbus and hopes to fly hydrogen-powered aircraft on its regional network by the end of this decade. No information has been released so far about the cost of these aircrafts.
