THE WORLD OF PILLS

An awful lot of chemical antidepressants are prescribed and taken worldwide ( mainly in the West ). And not only that, but also many other medications such as sleeping pills, anxiety suppressants and other pills that act on the neurological system. The pharma industry earns several hundred billions a year from the pill industry. The more people take pills, the better.

In Belgium, this is no different. According to Mattias Desmet, 300 million boxes of antidepressants passed over the counter in 2019, as well as more than 10 million sleeping pills and as many more anxiety suppressants. Hallucinatory.

Things have certainly not improved since corona. On the contrary.

Doctors prescribe pills like it's a charm.

" I can't sleep doctor ", hup, a sleeping pill.

"I'm unhappy, I'm at a loss, I'm depressed ", hup, an antidepressant from the large assortment. Plenty of choice.

It is not investigated whether the patient actually has certain deficiencies that can only be remedied by a chemical that acts on the cortex. Nor are they investigating why it is that a patient sleeps poorly or not at all, whether he eats and drinks the right things, is out of balance if need be. They don't know and it doesn't really matter. The patient is content if pills are prescribed. After all, that is what he goes to his doctor for, right ?

Fortunately, there are still scientists making efforts to find out exactly how things are.

On 20.07.2022, a comprehensive study spanning several years was published in which the researchers came to the conclusion that there is no evidence to suggest that depression is caused by low serotonin levels ( sic : serotonin is a " feel good " hormone and so by no means the counterpart of cortisol, the stress hormone - see earlier post with interpretation ).

" The authors of a large review say there is no support for the hypothesis that depression is caused by lowered serotonin activity or concentrations, and have questioned the reasons behind high prescribing rates of antidepressants.

They say the chemical imbalance theory of depression is still wrongly being put forward by some professionals and the public widely believes it.

...

The systematic umbrella review, published in Molecular Psychiatry, looked at the existing overviews of research on serotonin and depression including systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Joanna Moncrieff, professor of psychiatry at University College London, consultant psychiatrist at North East London NHS Foundation Trust, and the study's lead author, said, "It is always difficult to prove a negative, but I think we can safely say that after a vast amount of research conducted over several decades there is no convincing evidence that depression is caused by serotonin abnormalities, particularly by lower levels or reduced activity of serotonin."

...

"Patients should not be told that depression is caused by low serotonin or by a chemical imbalance and they should not be led to believe that antidepressants work by targeting these hypothetical and unproven abnormalities," said Moncrief.

"In particular, the idea that antidepressants work in the same way as insulin for diabetes is completely misleading. We do not understand what antidepressants are doing to the brain exactly, and giving people this sort of misinformation prevents them from making an informed decision about whether to take antidepressants or not."

The study did not focus on what does cause depression. For that, we need to consult other studies and study Germanic medicine.

To conclude, I would like to share with you a video of an interview with Tom Cruise from 20 years ago. He was accused of being a conspiracy theorist while hitting the nail on the head. Tom was pressurised to the extent that he broke down and started walking in line Today he has no opinion and that is unfortunate.
